To echo Carol's post about a comment frenzy on her blog, I say enough already!
Wendy and I were mentioned in the latest issue of "Yarn Market News," and their write up of podcasts. WE DID NOT solicit this write up or have any input into the writing of the article. But, the last line implied that "Lime and Violet," another knitting podcast was a "knockoff" of us (THEIR WORDS NOT OURS!). This has started a maylay of nasty comments on Lime and Violet's message boards.
I did not agree to podcast with Wendy to return to this high school like land of he said she said, does s/he like me? I do it out of pure love of knitting, talking about yarn, visiting yarn shops and BONDING with fellow knitters. If you don't like it, don't listen. Don't make me feel crappy with nasty comments about my opinions. They are MY OPINIONS and the last time I checked the constitution, I'm entitled to them.
I said this on the podcast, and to my mom so many times, "knitting is a hobby, not a competetion." I don't want to be better than anyone else-I just want to have fun with what I'm doing---if this is what is going to happen though when we are COMPLIMENTED (and really haven't even been able to enjoy this!) then I really don't care to do it anymore. I can go back to be a blogger very easily living life fairly anonymously with my random readers.
So read what you will, write what you will, listen to what you will...but don't trash me anymore...it took me years to get past the psychic scars of adolescence and I'm not interested in doing it again.

You go, girl! I think it's totally wrong when we knitters start slamming each other about what's right and what's wrong in our knitting. If you like what you're making, then you're doing it the right way with the right yarn for that project whether it's plastic or the finest cashmere. Don't let them get you down! I still adore your podcast because its East Coast-ness reminds me of home. I stalk my iTunes each week just waiting for your next download--so rest assured you have me as a HUGE fan! Sending you great big hugs!
What a bunch of nonsense!!! I haven't read the entire thing, but I have seen all I need to at the L&V message boards. Sounds like sour grapes to me.
Listen, just keep doing what you are doing girl! I LOVE your podcast so much that I have been listening to the old ones each day. I wish you had two a week!
Don't give it a second thought. You guys rock! If you want to contact me I am at www.magnicmax@cox.net (don't have time to set up a blogger acct. - I'm at work!)
Fight the power, Christina! You're so right. Why are knitters sniping at each other? Grow up, girls!
My motto is: "Ignore Me! It's Easier." It applies to many things - such as when I am babbling or am behind in the conversation and say something dopey and ESPECIALLY when someone doesn't like what I have to say. I don't need to know that they don't like what I have to say and they don't need to waste their time and energy telling me something I'm not listening to anyway. So to everyone who doesn't like my outlook, politics, opinions, religion, crafty habits, dogs, what have you - "Ignore Me! It's Easier!"
You guys are great and there is room for everyone to do their own thing. Enjoy the complement - Yarn Maket News is a HUGE deal. Congrats!
I love L&V too, as you guys know. I can understand why they are upset at the stupid YM comment, but I don't understand why some ont he boards have seen it as an outlet to trash your excellent show. I'm not going to post on the topic there anymore.
Stupid YM- really they are to blame. See what they have done?
I'm so sorry these comments have upset you. I listen to and love both of your podcasts. We, as knitters have enough people hating on us for what we do and who we are. We don't need to hate each other.
Keep doing what makes you happy. Pay no attention to other's negativity.

I've only just started listening to KnittyD and the City but I enjoyed it so much I downloaded all the previous podcasts in one swoop!
I'm really sorry to read about the nasty comments people are making over this.
I know it's easier said than done, but don't let the nasties take away the joy of the compliment or any enjoyment from what you're doing.
KnittyD and the City is my favourite podcast and both you and Wendy are awesome, inspiring people. Rock on! Or should I say, Knit on! :)
Knitty D - rock on and AMEN! I love your podcast! Keep up the good work - and congrats!! :-)
I've just started getting into Lime and Violet and I really like listening to them. and i did think they were simialr to you guys. And then there was a new Knitty D and The City in my ipod and I was so excited!!! can I have too much of two ladies chatting together about knitting? No!! never!!! And you guys are so different to L&V! Keep up the excellent shows! I loved hearing the Cape Cod episode! Thanks for being you Christina, I love hearing what you ahve to say.

Oh honey, don't let people snag your lace. In the words of Richard Phillips Feynman the physicist "what do you care what other people think?" I enjoy your show so much, and the blog as well. It's a shame to think that it takes so little to tarnish the fun. Just do what you do, you do it very well.
oh knitty d, i hope you don't stop podcasting! i look forward to every new episode, you and the city crack me up. it's like being with my best funnist friend.
Your podcast is great. If someone doesn't like it, they don't have to listen to it. I love it. It has inspired me to better and better knitting (and also, to start acquiring a stash, which I never had before).
PS I listened to 2 of L&V and couldn't take it anymore. It is DIRECTLY a rip off of Knitty D and the City except they don't know very much about knitting. And, they're not funny. I can't really see the point of a knitting podcast with people who don't know or care that much about knitting. But, I wouldn't blast them, I'm sure some people like to listen, and they are welcome to.
Keep doing what you like to do -- We love you! PS I thought of you today at the baseball game. No crab fries at the minor-league Newark Bears, though -- but I did get quite a bit done on the Bearfoot Mountain socks for me mum. And, the Bears won!
Go Nittany Lions.

You know, Yarn Market News can write some rather negative things. I guess since they are gearing themselves towards shops, they feel a need to be "honest" - but when they featured my podcast there, one of the others they reviewed was sort of negative. If I had been her, I would have been hurt.
I guess they figure we won't see it or something like that.
I adore you and Wendy. I tried to plan a trip to Philly just to see the two of you in person. Every time I listen to a show I laugh like a manic idiot. (Good thing I am normally alone in my car.) Don't give in to the high school drama. People can be so silly here on the internet. It isn't about that.
Do what you love, do what you enjoy, do what is best for you. We'll be here cheering you on. Like you said, you didn't write up the article, and no one - NO ONE - should take it out on you.
Drama sucks. Poke them with your needles.
Weighing in late on all the comments. I'm very much out of touch as I don't have my original computer after the move and therefore can't download any podcasts. I miss hearing you guys - it's a great podcast! Don't let all the rumble get to you. It's almost a societal norm to make yourself feel better by putting someone else down. It takes a lot of guts to put yourself out there with all the negativity around. I hope you do carry on but do it because you still love it, not to please us.
Knitty D,
Don't listen to the player haters! You are awesome. I am trying to get the rest of your episodes - iTunes sucks sometimes. I love listening to the 3 eps I've got, been through them all twice. Gotta get more!! I am going to the KnittyDandTheCity blog and start downloading. Take care, don't be afraid to share, and get your knit on lady. btw how's that lace project coming along :D
Much love
Beverly
What a shame: you should be basking in the glow of major compliments from an industry publication instead of dealing with "Mean Girls." The critics should just bugger off. You guys are great.

Oh, I think the "podosphere" is quite big enough for everyone. I really, really enjoy Knitty D and the City, and I like L&V, too. I'll keep listening no matter what.
