Tuesday.

Why can't it be Thursday already. This week is two days young and already I'm anxious for the weekend.
So I haven't written about my shoulder bursitis or the cortisone injection I received last Thursday afternoon. Perhaps that is because I would rather forget it.
Nor have I scribed about my car being towed from my block for apparently "blocking a driveway" and $250 later and a cab ride to a very seedy area in South Philly, I retrieved the car and then proceeded to have a nervous breakdown. Again, not one of my finest moments.
So lets move on.

I'm plowing through a very cool modular scarf made out of "supermerino" by Art Yarns
I visited the new yarn shop in town, LOOP. It's very pretty with equally pretty yarn. Yum.
Tonight I party on with the Wynne's...
I'm scrapbooking like mad...I've done 8 pages already which equals only our first day in England! This book is going to be MASSIVE

And finally, its the first day of summer and of course, it is getting hot again.
I love humidity.

Why? Why can you only score two runs in two games against the lowly Seattle Mariners?
Is it the jet lag? The overwhelming smell of garlic fries wafting through Safeco Field?
Your awe over the retractible roof? Please, someone explain to me how this is happening;because last time I checked the schedule, we have to play the Mets, Red Sox, Braves and Marlins (f'ing fish) in the next few weeks and you are PUTSING around out there.
Come on guys, the All Star Break is fast approaching and we ALL know how you play in August! Let's put some W's in the column and make some ground up...It's a tough division.

okay it is absolutely miserable outside today.
I'm walking to work and literally feeling like I might melt into the sidewalk.
The sun is beating down as if we live on top of the equator and it is only 9am.
I want to go get back in bed with the bagels in the air conditioning and not come out until September.

On the other hand, perhaps it is the heat the is SMOKING my Phillies and making them a contender in June! What is happening? We won 12 of 13 on our homestand. The bats are cracking. The pitching isn't blowing it. Have the planets aligned?

Tonight I get to meet Justin Vincent Muttreja oh and use Carolyn's pool. Yum.
So much for knitting, but it is just too damn hot.

well I've posted some photos from the trip, but honestly there were 773 to choose from! That was tough! Some maybe this is just a start of posting some of them.

Okay it is so god damn humid here I think I might be melting. It wasn't quite raining this morning but the air is so humid it is schfitzing. Thank god for the A/C in the bedroom since Gussy feels the need to lie as close to me as he possibly can.

TGIF! I'm going to get back on track with body hair vigilance today (eyebrows) and pedicure-toes look like they have been walking all over the UK.

Going to get organized for summer knitting this weekend: Currently working on a sock, (fat) Koigu baby sweater. Have to start new project for little Justin this weekend too...pics to follow

ICE

So, I'm Bach from vacation and its about 1,000 degrees here in Philadelphia with 7000% humidity. Thus I thought I would blog about why I love ice so much seeing as the BRITS have no discovered its virtue yet.

When in England, I would ask for extra ice and instead of the usual 2 cubes in the glass of coke, I'd get three.

When we came home, we went to Marathon for dinner and I ordered a glass of ice with some coke around it. The waiter gladly obliged me.

It is nice to be home. I missed my puppies and my yarn and most of all, my bed. If I never sleep in a twin size bed again in this life time that will be okay with me.

And of course I have that strange motivation of being back that makes me actually LIKE my job for a few days.

So as I settle back in to the hum drum of that which is Philadelphia life and start planni ng my next mega-trip abroad I am left to think, what is next for knitty delicious: the blog.
I haven't quite decided what direction to take this dear blog in...so we shall see.
Until then, bare with me and drink you drinks with lots of ice

SHATTERED

Hello from London.
Mom and I are officially cooked...overdone and ready to come home tomorrow!
We are spending the day lounging in and around our hotel today after two days in London SO JAM PACKED we can barely move today.
A quick shout out to new mom Carolyn! Congrats! I cannot wait to meet Mr. Justin.
So what have mom and I done in London? We started Friday with the Tower of London, photo opps with "beefeaters," the Crown Jewels and a bus ride around town. We saw Big Ben and Parliment. I think the Parliment Building is so lovely architecturally speaking. We used the TUBE (quite well if I may say) and just beat a massive rain shower as we headed to tea at a cute little Patisserie near our hotel. We then had an awesome Indian meal and did some shopping. We headed in early to watch "the Kumars" and get some rest for Saturday-which would prove to be make or break day.
We started early with a trip on the tube to St Paul's Cathedral. Another architecturally stunning building. However, I just needed to stop paying £8 to get into everything. So we had to chose; tour St Pauls or The Abbey---we chose the Abbey. We headed back out via tube to Westminster Abbey and qued for about 45 mins to get in. The Abbey is quite spectacular and it was neat to have an end to the Mary Queen of Scots story, seeing her tomb, as well as all the poets and other famous folk buried here. We then jetter over to the National Gallery where we saw works by Van Gogh, Monet, Seurat, VerMeer and many others. What a collection (and finally something that was free!). We then headed across the street the another church, St Martin in the Fields (also free) and spent some time in the crypt doing brass rubbings! Very cool. Next was a short taxi ride to the London Eye. The glorified ferris wheel was very slow and the lines were magnificent (even with pre bought tix)...but the views were pretty spectacular as it just so happenend to be SUNNY yesterday. At this point, we headed back to our hotel for a much needed nap, before our night at the theatre. We saw "Billy Elliot: The Musical" which was FANTASTIC! The child (one of three) who was cast as Billy was an amazing dancer. It was such a great show and one I'm sure would be very difficult to bring to the states as it is based much on social circumstances in Britain in the early 80's. So, NOW WE ARE SPENT.
We just had an English breakfast of eggs and bangers and took a walk through Hyde Park.
We head home in the morning and can't wait for some puppy loving. It will take me months to organize and compile my scrapbook of this trip. I can't believe we have been to Irelan, Scotland and Britain! London is a very interesting city: very expensive, extremely ethinically diverse and honestly, I didn't think any population could be more addicted to their mobile phones then American's but I was wrong---Europeans put us to shame!
So more tomorrow as I continue to process the trip

Castles, Palaces and Enough Plaid to shake a stick at

Today we finally had a port call in Edinburgh, capitol city of Scotland. The sun also FINALLY was out. Mom and I were up at the crack of ass to have breakfast and catch the tenders to our waiting bus to the city. Edinburgh is a fascinating city...very old and gorgeously constructed. We concentrated our short time on the Castle, the Royal Mile and Holyrood Palace. The castle sits HIGH above the city and the views from its vista were breathtaking. Did you know the have a special cemetary for the royal dogs at this castle? We also saw the crown jewels, which were overrated. We then headed down the royal mile, which is frankly a really long hill of gift shops (all selling plaid/tartans) and cafes. The historic stuff was there, but seemed like it was being overtaken by souvenir stands. Finally we made it to Holyrood Palace which was the highlight of the trip. This is where the queen stays when she comes in Edinburgh. It was so neat! There is an old ruin of an abbey attached that was just haunting and gorgeous. We also stolled around the grounds and took many photos of Arthurs seat above us.
But now I'm tired. Tomorrow is our last day at sea (yeah!) and my last chance to play BINGO!
I likely won't be blogging again until the weekend when we are in London.
Couple of things I forgot to mention
Gas here is wicked expensive...like $4.00 a gallon
We got tickets to see "Billy Elliot:The Musical" on Saturday night. Its supposed to be great.

I'm telling you, if I didn't have this thing behind my ear that is helping with motion sickness, I would have spend much of the last two days barfing. We are now into the Atlantic Ocean about 300 nautical miles from our next port, South Queensferry (edinburgh). Mom and I can't wait to get off this F***** boat. Don't get us wrong, we've had lots of fun and tried new things like wine tasting and bingo. But I need to put my feet on the ground and WALK A STRAIGHT LINE. This is not possible on this boat. Everyone walks through the corridors and hallways like a bunch of drunkards! But on the other side, I have finished several knitting projects including the feather and fan scarf and a cute little baby hat made out of "candy" by Artful yarns (pattern is on ballband! How clever!) and am almost done with another sock! The other upside is that we have saved a crap load of money by not docking, between the shore excursions and the non existent shopping. We have two guys who take care of us in the dining room, Jose, who we ask for as out waiter as often as we can. He's this cutie from the Phillipines who loves that mom's name is "barbara bach" (like Ringo Stars wife). And then there is Lester, my Jaimacan donut man. They keep us entertained. We are done with bingo.
Tonight we watch Meet the Fokkers and plan for tomorrow's sightseeing in Edinburgh.
